Upon finding out that their childrens' school - Baton Rouge International School (BRIS) - would be permanently closing at the end of the 2021 - 2022 school year, Brooke Barnett-Bernall and other shocked parents of students came together to preserve the school's community and legacy as Louisiana's only multilingual immersion program alive. Thus, the Capital Renaissance International School (CRIS) was born.
“From an excellent curriculum to extraordinary educators, what Baton Rouge had in BRIS was truly something special and something that we parents just couldn’t sit back and watch slip away. Nowhere else in Baton Rouge offers children the opportunity to learn English, French, Spanish, and Chinese while being exposed to such a wonderfully diverse group of classmates and teachers. It has become our obligation to do whatever it takes to preserve this exceptional education for our children, while supporting the outstanding teachers who have done so much for our families.” - Brooke Barnett-Bernal
Through community support and ongoing donations, Capital Renaissance International School (CRIS) is scheduled to open this upcoming school year as a non-profit private school and early learning center for ages 6 weeks through 5th grade.
