The continued expansion and development of new technology will undoubtedly be beneficial to mankind in countless ways, however, new techonology will also come with its own disadvantages and faults as well. Michael Patterson addresses one of these disadvantages in his new article entitled "Deepfakes: An Authenticity Challenge" that was recently published in the December 2023 / January 2024 issue of the Louisiana Bar Journal. In his article, Patterson discusses the emerging issue of AI generated photos, videos, and audio being used as evidence in litigation, various methods that are being considered to address the problem presented by deepfakes, and how deepfakes can come up in trial.
