During his time in law school, Dakota was a Senior Articles Editor for the Journal of Energy Law and Resources, where he significantly contributed to the development of legal scholarship in energy law. He competed in multiple transactional law competitions, including the Fordham Basketball Negotiation Competition. Dakota earned the CALI Academic Excellence Award in Louisiana Security Devices. He also participated in the LSU Mediation Clinic, where he gained valuable practical experience in mediation and dispute resolution.

Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Dakota is a passionate supporter of LSU sports, frequently attending games and rooting for the Tigers. Dakota also enjoys cooking, often experimenting with new recipes and sharing his food with friends.. Additionally, Dakota was an avid private pilot, finding joy and a sense of freedom in flying.
